The Studio Shop is near the beginning and end of the tour. You may be tempted to browse as soon as you arrive, but I enjoyed it most after seeing the sets and costumes.

After walking through the tour, the merchandise feels more meaningful. You recognise a character you have just seen, begin to favour a particular house, or suddenly want an item you would have passed by earlier.

That is exactly what happened to me with the Niffler. I was not especially looking for Niffler merchandise when I arrived, but the creature became more and more endearing as I explored the displays. By the time I reached the shop, I was looking for it everywhere.
