Are you looking for a hotel in Osaka that’s easy to get to, comfortable to stay in, and won’t leave you stressed after a long day of sightseeing?

I stayed at Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka Kitahama during my Expo 2025 visits — and I’d go back in a heartbeat. Here’s my honest review.

※ Based on my stay on April 30 – May 1, 2025. Updated with current information in 2026.

🚉 1. Station-Direct Access — No Stress, Rain or Shine

The hotel is directly connected to Kitahama Station (Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line, Exit 6). No walking outside. No getting lost. Even on a rainy day, you walk straight from the train to the hotel lobby — dry and stress-free.

  • Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line — Kitahama Station, Exit 6 (direct connection)
  • Keihan Main Line — Kitahama Station, via underground walkway to Exit 6
  • Osaka Metro Midosuji Line — Yodoyabashi Station, Exit 8 (approx. 8 min walk)

Want to explore Kyoto for a day? The Keihan Line is right there. Heading to Dotonbori? Just a few stops away. This location makes it easy to go anywhere in the Kansai region without a car.

🍳 2. Breakfast That Actually Makes You Feel Good

Honestly? This breakfast was one of the highlights of my whole trip.

It’s a buffet-style breakfast with a focus on fresh, healthy food — something I really appreciate as someone in my 60s who needs to take care of herself while traveling!

  • 🥗 Fresh local vegetables — crisp salads to recharge your body with vitamins
  • 🍚 Japanese options — rice, grilled fish, miso soup, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard)
  • 🥐 Western options — croissants, bread, eggs, juice, potato salad
  • 🐙 Osaka favorites — takoyaki, fried snacks, ham and sausages

What I loved most was the “home-cooked” feeling of the food. Not flashy, not over-the-top — just warm, comforting flavors that felt like mom’s cooking. After days of busy sightseeing, that’s exactly what you need.

🕐 Breakfast hours: 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM (last entry 9:30 AM)
💴 Price: ¥1,650 per adult (tax included)

🛒 3. Underground Supermarket — A Hidden Gem for Night Owls

Here’s something I didn’t know until a police officer told me — and I’m so glad he did!

There’s a supermarket directly accessible from the hotel via underground walkway, open late into the night. From the street, you’d never find it — it’s hidden below ground.

  • ✅ No need to walk outside at night
  • ✅ Safe and well-lit underground route
  • ✅ Perfect for picking up drinks, snacks, or convenience items

For solo travelers or senior travelers especially, this is a huge plus. You can stock up on drinks and snacks for the next day without worrying about navigating unfamiliar streets at night.

Since the locations of the supermarket and the hotel don’t always appear simultaneously due to zooming in and out, I’ve included a screenshot.(↓)

✨ 4. Quiet, Clean, and Genuinely Welcoming

The rooms are spotlessly clean, the amenities are well-stocked, and the staff are patient and kind — exactly what you hope for when you’re tired from a full day out.

During Expo 2025, this hotel was packed with visitors from all over Japan. Even then, the quality of service never dropped. Now that the Expo is over, the hotel has returned to a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere — perfect for leisurely Osaka sightseeing.

🗺️ While You’re in Osaka: A Sweet Detour Worth Making

If you loved the lamington at Expo 2025’s Australia Pavilion — or wish you’d tried it — here’s great news.

The world-class barista who supervised the Expo’s Australia Pavilion cafe now runs PATHFINDER XNOBU in LUCUA Osaka (just a short trip from Kitahama). You can enjoy an authentic lamington with a Melbourne-style flat white — the closest thing to the Expo experience, right in the heart of Osaka.
